LIFETIME SERVICE TO SPORT FINALISTS

Peter Dunne & Glenn Fryer – ‘Longvue’

MEET PETER & GLENN

Peter and Glenn have been supporters of the development of equestrian sport for many years. Glenn has represented Australia at the Dressage World Championships in Canada in 1986, and Peter is a former Chair of both Equestrian Victoria and Werribee Park NEC.

However, it is their behind the scenes support that has proved invaluable for a wide range of events throughout Australia and with special significance to all major Victorian events.

Glenn’s first involvement with horses was show jumping and show horses.  His interest in Dressage was sparked when training under legendary horseman, Franz Mairinger and he went on to work with leading trainers Bimbo Pielicke, Udo Lange and Rosemary Springer.

Glenn was shortlisted for the Montreal Olympics but funding was very limited for the dressage riders and he was denied a chance but represented Australia at the 1986 Dressage World Championships held in Canada. Glenn has also coached and trained a number of riders who have gone on to represent Australia. He has also owned horses that have been ridden successfully by riders such as Brett Parbery and Maree Tomkinson.

Peter has a deep love of horses but has remained out of the spotlight choosing to work hands on for organisations such as Equestrian Victoria and Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.

Together they have actively sponsored most major events in Australia under the Longvue name, which is the name of their property east of Melbourne at Nar Nar Goon.

The Longvue name has been involved with Dressage and Jumping with the Stars, the Dressage Festival, Victorian Youth Dressage Championships, the Australian Dressage Championships, Boneo Park and the Melbourne International Three Day Event. Their generous financial support has been very welcome and they are true philanthropists wanting nothing in return for their sponsorship.

Peter has worked tirelessly on his vision for the improvement of Werribee Park, serving on both the Equestrian Victoria Board and the Werribee Park Board of Management with stints as Chairs of both organisations.
