PENELOPE JOHNSON
GENERAL – LEVEL 1
MEET PENELOPE
Penny has a background in other sports including athletics, swimming, hockey and AFLW but her real passion is eventing, particularly coaching riders to rise up the levels.
Penny is currently competing at 4* level with a horse she has had since a yearling, she also has some self produced Off The Track horses competing at 2* level as well as younger horses coming through. She has brought multiple young riders up to 2* level successfully, some of whom were entered at Melbourne 3 Day Event.
Penny and her knowledge of horses and the sport of eventing has constantly guided her students and other coaches. She has always encouraged correct horse management, safe and smart riding, particularly on cross country, and helped riders to understand the risks of eventing and how to undertake it safely.
Her ability to adapt to different students and horses has given a positive image of how effective coaching can be and how important smart riding and correct horse management is.
Penny is also a volunteer at the Tonimbuk Horse Trials, and her understanding of the other side of the sport has meant she is constantly encouraging her students and others involved to volunteer at events and support the sport to ensure its future.
Penny is a past recipient of the excellence in sport award at St Margaret’s School and is working towards completing further EA coaching qualifications and competing at more 4* – L competitions all around Australia.

VOTING ELIGIBILITY
You must have been a financial member at some point during the period 2020/2021 membership year to be eligible to cast a vote. You are only able to submit ONE voting form per category. The following will be deemed void and will be removed:
- duplicate votes in a category by the same member
- unfinancial members (as per time period above)
- invalid or incorrect membership numbers
