EVENT OF THE YEAR FINALIST
2021 HORSELAND FARM WORLD EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL
EVENT SPONSOR: HORSELAND
ABOUT THE EVENT
2021 saw the integration of a dressage competition into the leading rural exhibition and shopping extravaganza that is Farmworld. The event brought EA, Interschool, Pony Club and HRCAV together to produce the dressage spectacular which also provided the opportunity for local, Victorian and Interstate equine businesses to be involved in the dedicated Equestrian Trade Village.
Run by the small but hard-working Team CPH, the event was dedicated to providing dressage classes for everyone. This required exceptional event coordination and management skills to ensure all interest group events were catered for over three days. The team organised judges, engagement with local businesses for sponsorship, media coverage, coordination of an equine trade village, COVID compliance, along with detailed communication via Facebook, Instagram and email prior to and during the event.
The 2021 Horseland Farmword Equestrian Festival showcased Gippsland’s best dressage riders to the farming and wider community. School children, families, business people, sponsors and visitors were treated to an exceptional display of dressage from Small Tour to grade 6 Pony Club riders. This competition catered for people from the age of 4 years old to 70. Participation and inclusion were paramount. This was clearly on display by Carlton Performance Horses embracing the Interschool competition in association with St Paul’s Anglican Grammar and Pony Club participation supported by Warragul Pony Club. The impact on the wider dressage and equestrian community will be monitored in the coming months, but initial reports from local pony clubs indicated an increase in membership requests during April and May. The Interschool competition provided great rivalry between local schools and is planned to expand in 2022.
The 2021 Horseland Farmworld Equestrian Festival was very important to the Gippsland EV Equestrian Community as there are very few EV dressage competitions in the South East Region, so the addition of this showcase event to the region was very welcome to many EV members. The major sponsor of the festival was Horseland, one of our largest equestrian suppliers. The fact that this EV competition was welcoming and inclusive to other equestrian groups was also well received with participation by EV dressage riders, para dressage, pony dressage, eventers and show jumpers, all at one event.
The success of this event was measured by a sell-out crowd across the three days of Farmworld, and acceptance from the Farmworld Committee to continue Team CPH involvement in the event for 2022.
