LIFETIME SERVICE TO EQUESTRIAN SPORT – 2020

A Lifetime of Dedication Recognised

In 2020, Paul Williams was recognised for his ongoing commitment and dedication to equestrian sport with an honorary lifetime membership to Equestrian Victoria.

Paul is a highly respected member of the Equestrian community having been a member of Equestrian Victoria since 1983, and has significantly contributed to our sport for over 37 years.

He has travelled around Australia and overseas as Chef d’Equipe for many teams and is a mentor for son Matthew who has represented Australia on many occasions. He has also been part of the organising committee for the extremely successful Australian Championships held at Werribee Park.

This passion and dedication to the sport resulted in Paul being awarded the 2020 Lifetime Service to Equestrian Sport Award. This award is decided by Equestrian Victoria members in recognition of a person who is respected and admired for their outstanding efforts by the equestrian community.

Paul has been involved in Equestrian Sport since he was a teenager, first as a rider and competitor where he was involved in the Victorian young rider squads from their inception and played a guiding role in making them he success they are today. From those early days he has gone onto to fulfill countless roles within our community including, coach, course builder, commentator, and administrator. Paul has also been involved with many committees, including being a past president of Port Phillip Show Jumping Club and a representative for Equestrian Victoria.
Paul is a man of vision however he always has riders’ interests at heart, making him very approachable and easy to talk to. He truly lives Equestrian Victoria’s values.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his contribution and for continually, and selflessly, giving up his time over many years for the improvement of Equestrian Sport.
