MEET WIMMERA EQUESTRIAN CLUB
Established about 40 years ago, the Wimmera Equestrian Club caters for a wide range of activities including show horse, stockmen’s comps, jumping, trail riding and bush camps.
In 2018, due to interest in the area, they began to run dressage events. Sharon Robertson and Melissa Shaw are the backbone of the club and have overseen a rapid rise in the number of events with a healthy club membership. Their home ground is Dimboola, a very picturesque reserve and showground right next to the Wimmera River and surrounded by parkland and beautiful River Red Gums.
In the short time that Dressage has been run, they have expanded to run a two day Championships at the end of October and a three round Winter Series. Their success has been driven by offering EA tests at Participation and Restricted level which leads to a boost in club membership. They also run a full range of Official Competitive tests. While a long way from Melbourne, the club always looks to get high level judges and attracts competitors from not only the Wimmera Mallee region but also South Australia and southern NSW.
Active fundraising and seeking grants have seen them raise the money to purchase and install new steel yards on the ground, order a new state of the art equipment trailer and buy their own dressage arenas.
During COVID, they were successful in obtaining a grant that enabled them to purchase tablets so they can use electronic scoring at their events. They offer genuine country hospitality and impeccably well run events.

- unfinancial members (as per time period above)
- invalid or incorrect membership numbers
