FINALIST PROFILE
2021 EQUESTRIAN VICTORIA
LIFETIME SERVICE TO SPORT FINALIST

BEVERLEY SHANDLEY

Bev is a longterm and passionate contributor to the sport of Eventing both as an athlete and as an official. She goes above and beyond to assist the athletes in their understanding of the dressage requirements but also to mentor and support young and upcoming officials.

Her love of Equestrian began as a child where she and her sister Yvonne spent their days riding and helping on the farm. Together they organised and ran the Cape Paterson ODE for many years. Bev has ridden at many of Australia’s elite events representing her home state of Victoria. Some of these include Gawler (now Adelaide), Melbourne International, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Bev is always willing to assist riders with their problems, but she spends most of her time carrying out her officiating duties as a Level 3 EA and FEI 3 Ground Juror. Bev has officiated all over Australia including Melbourne International, Queensland and Sydney.

She has travelled oversea to Japan and New Zealand and officiated at Minsk in Belarus at the Minsk Equestrian Centre. Bev keeps herself well informed often travelling overseas, including to Warendorf in Germany and most recently to Aintree in the United Kingdom just before the COVID outbreak in 2020. She is a wealth of knowledge with the dressage but also has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the cross country. Her involvement in the sport spans over a period of years and she continues to influence and assist today.
