LINDY YOUNG

MEET LINDY

Lindy Young has a long and distinguished record in equestrian sport. She is a competitor, owner, breeder and former coach but it is her hard work in the officiating arena that really stands out. Qualifications include FEI Level 3 Jumping Steward, FEI Level 2 Eventing Steward, EA Jumping Judge and a Medication Control Steward. Lindy can be found around Australia regularly stewarding at the highest level but is equally happy to help out at the smallest of country shows. In the international arena Lindy has officiated at the Rio Olympics in 2016, World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, Normandy and Tryon and also at the European Eventing Championships in Luhmuhlen, Germany and the famous Burghley Horse Trials in England in 2019.

Lindy met her husband to be Peter when they were both grooms at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and together they were highly successful competitors over many years. Lindy is also breeding many very handy “all rounders” incorporating both Thoroughbred and Clydesdale bloodlines. The family farms in Western Victoria near Cavendish and run a large sheep and stud cattle operation.
Lindy is also passionate about pony jumping and was instrumental in introducing the Performance Ponies classes to Dressage and Jumping with the Stars.

Amongst her peers Lindy is seen as very fair in her stewarding duties but also totally committed to running under rules. She is a popular team member moving effortlessly from Chief Steward to Assistant Steward to general helper and, regardless what role she is in, maintains impartiality to all.

JUDGING CRITERIA

In considering the award of Lifetime Service an individual should have demonstrated significant, sustained and high quality service contributing to the improvement, quality and accessibility of equestrian sport, Consideration should be given to the following:

  • Length of involvement in the sport
  • Initiatives developed or involved in which contributed to the enhancement of the sport
  • Significant mentoring to share knowledge
  • Time volunteering
  • Demonstrated approachability and integrity
VOTING ELIGIBILITY

You must have been a financial member during the 2020 membership year to be eligible to cast a vote. You are only able to submit ONE voting form per category. The following will be deemed void and will be removed:

 

  • duplicate votes in a category by the same member
  • unfinancial members (as per time period above)
  • invalid or incorrect membership numbers
