FINALIST PROFILE
2021 EQUESTRIAN VICTORIA
OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR FINALIST
TESS GOODWIN
MEET TESS
Tess became involved in Eventing through her daughters Florence & Sophia in 2014. She started off volunteering to help at all the events both flagging, jump judging and also helping out as a Doctor. In 2016 Tess became very proactive, advising Eventing Victoria around their Medical Requirements and Officiating at our major events. She also became a member of the National Medical Consultative Group who worked closely to implement the recommendations from the Coronial Inquiry. In 2018 Tess accepted the role of Eventing Victoria Chief Medical Officer, (in reality, she had been doing the job for some time).
Tess has been working in a voluntary role as doctor at too many events to list since 2014. Her role includes include but is not limited to consultation when developing the Serious Incident Management Plan for these events and meeting with the medical services, auditing their equipment and following up with injured riders post event.
Tess is an integral part of helping Victoria develop the best available medical services for our riders. She is creating a network of doctors to volunteer at Melbourne International 3 Day Event. Tess attends annual update courses to keep her skills current for emergency situations.
Tess works full time as a doctor running a practice in Yackandanda and also working at Albury Wodonga in Obstetrics. Her passion for the sport and willingness to pitch in over and above her doctor duties make her a pleasure to work with.
